Product Update - October 2021 | PaySwifter. We’re excited to share some of the features that we shipped this month at PaySwifter. Our beta is proceeding well, and we are focused on building better functionality on the merchant app, and on some bug fixes. We decided to work towards the goal of improving the merchant app based on feedback from our merchants: 1) Introduce search functionality in the merchant dashboard that would help the users to look for customers and orders, easily 2) Adding graphs and at-a-glance-tabs on the app's dashboard. Further, while our rate of returns is almost negligible, we needed a way to ensure a customer with a return could be treated differently from a regular customer with no dues.

Product Update - October 2021 | PaySwifter. We’re excited to share some of the features that we shipped this month at PaySwifter. Our beta is proceeding well, and we are focused on building better functionality on the merchant app, and on ever-present bug fixes. We decided to work towards the goal of improving the merchant app based on feedback from our merchants: 1) Introduce search functionality in the merchant dashboard that would help the users to look for customers and orders, easily 2) Adding graphs and at-a-glance-tabs on the app's dashboard.

Search and improved filter functionality for customers and transactions

With ever increasing orders and customers on the merchant dashboard, it had become overwhelming for the retail staff and the support staff to track orders and customers, especially if dealing with a support request.

We now have a search functionality on the app across the following fields on the “Transactions” screens, alongside improved filtering options.

  • Swifter ID
  • External ID
  • Customer Name (first or last name)

On the “Customers” screen, the search functionality has been enabled for:

  • Customer Name
  • Customer Email
  • Customer Phone

Reporting / home page on our dashboard:

Suffice to say we didn't really have one, until this update. We now display the following types of information, and will work on more robust reporting in the next quarter.

  • Graphs to show trend lines for:  transaction values, time period on time period  
  • At-a-glance-information, filtered by date, regarding: 
  • Total number of transactions
  • Gross amount
  • Order amount
  • Tips collected
  • Successfully collected amount
  • Service fee charged
  • Returns due to a problem

Suspend and then reinstate suspended customers:

To reduce the risk faced by a merchant when an ACH payment from their customer is returned, we have introduced a feature to suspend such customers.

As a necessary additional feature, we have also introduced a way to reinstate any suspended customers by building a service request form and workflow that allows a suspended customer to be reinstated within 24 hours of the submission of the service request. Typically, once the merchant collects the payment due from the customer (paid in cash, paid via points, paid by adding to their next purchase), the merchant's staff can mark the pending payment as collected, and submit a request to reinstate the customer.

You might wonder why we don't have a 'retry ACH' flow enabled currently for our customer. This flow is built, and is waiting to be released into prod - but until then - we prefer to allow the merchant to collect the payment due from their customer through some other way.
